Ok.. so the plan is to make four cards... I grabbed two pieces of cardstock and assorted odds and ends left on my desk from the last batch of layouts I made:

 
In the eventually I ended up swapping the Hambly rub on left-overs for a sheet of old Heidi Swapp Christmas stickers though..LOL!

But I did get four cards out of this lot and still had plenty left over too!

I really should do this more often.. use up my left-overs to make cards :)

One Minute Monday

My sweet Dad turned 69 last week, and we celebrated his birthday on Thanksgiving, as we usually do.  It's a family tradition to make him something other than a birthday cake, as he isn't much of a fan of frosting, so this year I made him a chocolate cream pie! 

My "blowing-out-the-candle" photos were simple and uncluttered, so I decided to use the richly patterned papers from BasicGrey's "Pyrus" collection to scrap them.  The big triangle below the photos reminds me of a tablecloth, which is pretty fitting.

Round Robin

Oh, you are in for a treat today with this month's Round Robin! Rebekah and I are so happy to have Sharon and Irene (fans of AMLT on facebook) join us in the challenge. I started off the Round Robin with this layout...

 
Next up was Sharon. She said, "This layout of my son (one of twins) was inspired by many different aspects of Elizabeth's layout.  Firstly I liked the use of two different fonts for the title, this is something that I think I will use more often.  The use of circles also jumped out but after trying for ages to incorporate more in my layout I opted to use just one behind the photos.  Like Elizabeth I used two photographs on top of each other, but moved mine to the centre of the layout.  Finally I used the blue colour as my background and placed a couple of word stickers and a larger cute embellishment on my layout, like the original."

Next up was Irene and here is what she had to say... "I had fun pulling out my supplies and working on this layout.  When I first saw Sharon's layout I was drawn to the layout design...the placement of the photos and embellishments (I just flipped the design a little).  When the page was done I realized that we had the same title for our pages....just a happy coincidence." (Sorry, her layout got cut off a little on the side but I didn't want to have to make it smaller so that you could see all the great details!)

Lastly, Rebekah finished off the round robin with a fun layout with her mom. Here is what she had to say about Irene's layout, "I was inspired by the fun banner in Irene's layout along with the cheerful colors she incorporated.  So I cut out a banner from the October Afternoon Seashells patterned paper to layout on top of a all the bright cheery strips of patterned paper from October Afternoon, KI Memories and My Minds' Eye.  My take on her strip journaling is the layered labels. :)"

I try to live my life being grateful for all that I have. I try to be sure to thank the people who have done something for me, have said something kind to me or who have made me the person I am. I truly believe that one of the greatest gifts I can give my daughters is to teach them to be thankful not only for the big things that are bestowed on them, but also for the little things, the things that are often overlooked...being told that you look nice, that you did a good job at something, a thoughtful gesture or just for simply being made to feel special.

I am thankful to have been given a chance to be a wife to a most wonderful man who always makes me feel like the most important person, and to be the mother to his children(two of the most awesome people I know!). I am thankful to my parents for the years they spent raising me and for now being not only my parents but my friends too. I am thankful for my friends, many of whom have made me feel special and cared for on a daily basis.

Another Two Pager!

Happy Day Before Thanksgiving everyone! I am sure most of you are busy preparing for the holiday so this is just a quick post to share another two pager I did. I dug into some old photos for this one...my boys look so little!

Patterned paper is Sassafrass and Kaiser Crafts, Rubons are Kaiser Crafts, and letter stickers are American Crafts and Doodlebug.

Hey guys!  I have a quick layout I'd love to share today.  I'm slowly working through my European vacation photos from this last summer...little by little!  Here's a recent layout I created with a few 4x6 images.  But along with sharing the layout, I'd love to give a few photo tips as well!

 

When I'm travel, of course I want to capture the area, the scenery, the friends I'm vacationing with, etc.  But I also look for unique opportunities to capture just a little slice of life from a different perspective.  One of the photos used in the layout is a self-portrait taken in the reflection of an old antique mirror.  The mirror was nearly as tall as we are and was so gorgeous up on an easel at the flea market in Zurich.  I love that not only does this photo capture me with a few friends but it also captures the history and surrounding areas of where we stood.

Another one of my favorite shots on the page is the close-up of all the little cars lined up!  Yep, I also took photos of the rows of booths at the flea market but these little antique cars caught my eye and I'm so glad I took the time to stop and capture them in my lens.

So there ya have it!  Take the normal touristy photos but look for different ways to capture with a different perspective!

I saw this page in my mind...

.. the moment I snapped the photo.

It was an extremely hot day in Paris and we were walking in the beautiful park of Tuileries. Fabulous statues everywhere. And then I saw this one. And I knew he was feeling what I was feeling...

 
..desperation and uncorfortable in the heat!

And he didn't even have any clothes on... it tickled my funny bone  *grin*

Not only for your layout :)

Now I have a secret...

I lovelovelovelovelove all these gorgeous Prima flowers, but have a hard time putting them on a layout. I've been holding onto this amazing turqoise flower I ordered for a while now... not really sure what to use it on. Taking it out, gazing at it in admiration and then tucking it away again safely.

Yes, I could have put it on a layout. Sure. But.. it is a bit too bulky even for me, LOL!

Inspiration hit me recently though.. why not put it on something wearable! It would get all the admiring gazes it truly deserves.

And so I took out an odd hairband, my trusty hot glue gun and a piece of felt and put it together in less than five minutes. Now you gotta love that!

I'm thankful...

Today it's my turn to post a little something I am thankful for. There really are so many things that I could post about today, but I decided instead to post the first thing that came to mind when I thought of the word "thankful."

So - with that being said (or typed, LOL) - I am thankful for... My sweet family that is now complete. :) My son is already a month and a day old and I am just so happy to have TWO beautiful children and a wonderful husband. Where does the time go? Take some time today (and every day) to think about all that you have to be thankful for. Every now and then take a picture of it and create a layout. I bet those will be the easiest layouts to create. :)
