Sketch Challenge

Are you ready for another sketch challenge? Well, I have to say that I had a good time with this sketch. I decided to do 3 layouts and use different size layouts to show the versatility.

It's Monday! Already!

Does anyone else feel like time is just flying by? Well, here we are at another Monday post, eager to share with you something of the creative nature, to inspire and motivate you. I recently did a layout and I wanted to keep the title on the small side but did not want it lost on the page. So for this layout, I used some small rubons from American Crafts (two different colours and fonts) for the title and put it inside a chipboard circle (also from American Crafts) to give it prominence. Cause, quite frankly, who wants a real big title about a Poultry Fest :P

But seriously though, this festival is one of the best in the area, almost everything is free and there are bouncy castles, tractor hay rides, chicken chariot races, egg drops, on and on and on. Good times. And my husband got to wear his new chicken hat :P Hey, it is better than a few years ago when he dyed his hair red and yellow and shaved it to look like a chicken! SERIOUSLY! He's quite a guy, never a dull moment. But anyhow, I hope you are inspired in some way to do something creative today.  

My Creative Space

I'm fortunate enough to have a designated space for crafting and scrapbooking now, but when I first started, that wasn't the case.  I remember when all the scrapbook supplies I owned fit neatly into a cut-down Priority Mail Box and I used an old tackle box for my embellishments, and I carried them from room to room with me when I wanted to scrap.  That was 10 years or so ago, and things certainly have changed since then! 

A couple summers ago I traded my hand-me-down furniture for some sturdy white bookcases and a large work table.  I upcycled a few old pieces of furniture that were headed for a yard sale, painted them white and mixed them in with the new pieces.  My blue and white decor is vintage shabby - just the way I like it!

Here's one of the bookshelves in my room.  I've got vertical paper storage along the bottom shelf, and I like to use the small plastic drawer sets for chipboard shapes, journaling cards and other small embellishments.  The photo boxes house seasonal embellishments and ribbon cards.

I have a large plastic set of drawers that I got at a hardware store and painted white.  I keep all my chipboard and acrylic alphas in it.  I like to mix and match fonts, so this arrangement works pretty well for me.

But my favorite storage is my "altered" breadbox from Target.  I wanted a place to corral all my adhesives, pens, mists, and Stickles, and this box works perfectly on the scraptable.  When I want to tidy the table, I just shut the lid!

Round Robin - September

Time for a new Round Robin. Fun, huh?! I love these challenges more than anything. The more people that participate, the merrier. This month Shelby made the first layout. This is what she came up with:

Kraft cardstock, two pictures, soft pastels and a scalloped, beautiful circle. Love, love, love! So how did Kristina get inspired? Let's see...

Exciting! I see kraft, pastels, the circles have multiplied, the love theme is still there just like the two pictures. Cute! This is the layout I got to be inspired by and this is what I came up with:

I decided to start with a piece of kraft cardstock just like Kristina, placed a yellow circle in the upper left corner instead of a pink one, placed the title in about the same place and put some family love in there as well.

Try your own Round Robin with some scrapbooking friends. I think you'll have a lot of fun! Good luck.

Fall Inspiration

Hi everyone...Katie here! Tomorrow is the first day of fall and I couldn't be happier because this is my favorite time of year! And I don't know about where you all live but here in NH it has already begun to look and feel like fall...the air is cooler, the leaves are changing and I see pumpkins and mums everywhere I go:) So today I want to share with you a few fall pages I have created. There are so many great fall lines out there. I especially love those by Cosmo Cricket, October Afternoon and Sassafrass and I used a lot of those on these pages.

Warm and Cozy Scrapping

I just love this time of year!  Up here in NH, the weather has finally cooled off after a very long, hot, dry summer.   We went apple picking at our favorite orchard last weekend, and this annual tradition is an undeniable sign that autumn has arrived.

Cooler temperatures have put me in the mood for anything warm and cozy, and what could be cozier than felt?  Recently, I was inspired by a blog entry to try stamping on felt.  It worked great, and I was instantly hooked!  I used Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black for the felt embellishments here, and  discovered that felt also takes misting and coloring with markers nicely as well.  Who knew?  I'm checking out my stamps and felt stash with new eyes now that I have discovered how much fun this is.

It's a fun technique, and you most likely already have the materials on hand, so give it a try!

Photo Prompt- Use a Word to Get Inspired.

Here in Stockholm fall has arrived. This is my favorite time of the year and I try to savor every moment, even the rain and icy winds.

My mission today is to inspire you to pick up your cameras, take tons of pictures and eventually put some of them in a beautiful scrapbook!

What do you feel when you hear the word fall? This word is much more fun in English than in Swedish, so I chose your fall for this photo inspiration tour. Hm. Fall... What does it mean? It has many meanings, doesn't it? How can I capture fall through my camera lens?

Sun through yellow oak leaves. Simply beautiful. Makes me want to practice mindfulness. Fall at its best.

Catching the sun after the rain. More beautiful now in September than in July!

Interior fall decoration with a small "branch" of oak leaves gives our living room a cosy feeling.

Fall preparations include trying to be one step ahead. We love our heater and used quite a lot of wood last winter.
