I love putting my stuff to use. Today I want to share a fall piece I made for our kitchen now that fall is upon us. I found a poem by Swedish poet Gunnar Hansson that I really like, and since I'm not that good a poet myself I decided to use it for this piece.

I cut the tree trunk out of a brown paper and used some dark brown fluid chalk to give it more of a three dimensional feeling. As you can see, I cut two additional pieces out, chalked them and put them on 3d foam. The leaves were cut out of three different colored papers. I tried to mix the leaves at first, but it just looked "crazy", so I decided to use the "rainbow rule" that my youngest daughter loves. (Dark colors first, let the rest follow according to the way the rainbow looks. Or simply follow the color wheel, for that matter...)

A simple layout

Today I'm sharing with you a layout that I recently created.

I'm a very simple scrapbooker, as you might already know, and so when I'm not sure just what kind of layout to craete, I always end up with something I love when I pick up a piece of kraft cardstock, some photos, a bit of color, a pack of my favorite Thickers and some simple cute embellishments and put together a quick page. That's exactly what I did for this layout:

Round Robin

Hi Everyone...Katie here. Are you all gearing up for back to school? Many of you are probably already back. We go back next week so we are enjoying our last week of summer vacation!

This month I participated in another Round Robin with Shelby and Elizabeth...these are so much fun! Shelby started things off with this adorable layout:

 

This went to Elizabeth who was inspired by the strips of paper, the bold one word title, the journaling placement and the use of a bracket as a design element. She created this:

Then came me...I was also inspired by the bracket shape and by the circles that Elizabeth used to create my layout:

Wednesday Madness!

Hello Everyone

I bet you are shocked since this post is going up before midnight on Wednesday!  Today is day 3 in the back to normal routine with school back in session, but I have to say this is the first day that feels somewhat like routine!  Hope you are all doing well.  I have to pat myself of the back because I'm doing a pretty good job thus far keeping things listed soon after I get them.  I'm happy to see some things selling out, and placing a few reorders.  I never blogged a link to the Crate paper when it arrived earlier this week, which is why all of you should become a facebook fan because the link to what I will post today makes it look like I didn't order much since much of it sold out.  (Don't worry more is coming).  It's much easier for me to hop on over there when something is listed and post a quick link. 

 Thank you for all of you that have become regulars over there.  And maybe oh maybe I'll be able to convert the rest of you :).  I can say that because I was positive I was never going to be on facebook and the store convinced me otherwise.  I really like browsing over there both in my personal account and things related to the store.  In fact we are almost to 600 fans, and there may be a prize associated with reaching that milestone! 

Well onto a little business... I've listed these new things this week:

Crate paper Restoration, School Spirit and Snowday (like I said I have a restock coming... hopefully Crate still has most of these items in stock, they were HOT!)

And a little peek into what is coming soon... Maya Road Tomorrow, Possibly Crate Restock tomorrow, Prima maybe by friday, it shipped today, possibly AC sometime very soon.  Remember it takes me a day or so to put things away and list after they arrive.  There could also be surprises in there as well :)

Please let me know of any restocks you would like to see.  I have to be extremly careful about restocking any products right now as my funds are tighter than they ever have been before.  But if enough of you ask I will listen.  I appreciate each of you! 

Last but not least I leave you today with a little inspiration.  Not from me but from Lisa Olsen, remember she was spotlighted back in July with her no cardstock idea?  She created the funnest little paper bag challenge album for a friend of hers and is kind enough to share it with us!

Here's what Lisa had to say about her fun project:

The paper bags are binded (oh, not sure if that's the correct term) with my Bind-it-all and they all contain a note with a challenge and a small gift she can use on her project. Haven't taken any photos of those notes, they are not all that fancy.. :D Anyway, she needs to tear the paper bags off the wire in order to get to the challenge, no omelette without breaking eggs right? :D

The green page was great fun to work on - glued a lot of paper scraps on the bag, added lots of tape in a mess and not very straight and properly glued on, before adding a ton of crackle paint, distress embossing powder and clear embossing. Messy and fun! :D

Card sketch

Hi there!

I've got a card sketch for you today, along with some cards that were created using the sketch. Before I post the sketch though, just a little disclaimer - as much as I LOVE using sketches, I'm horrible at doing sketches, LOL, so don't laugh too much as my sketch. :-D Ok, here's the sketch I made:

a little bit of Monday inspiration...

Hi there everyone! Shelby here to share a little bit of inspiration for your Monday.

I am always trying to find ways to get more photos on my single page layouts without making them looked too crammed with pictures. I also love to do single page layouts when I can, and these pictures just lent themselves to this sort of layout where you can tell from beginning to end just what is happening in them. They happen to be some of my faves from my youngest daughter's first year :)

Back to school!

This week has been busy in our home. All three children went back to school yesterday, and we tried to get ready for that by getting new shoes and clothes. After about two months of vacation, getting back to "everyday mode" is pretty nice. Even the children eventually get tired of all that spare time! Maybe the urge to search knowledge gets stronger the longer your vacation is? Haha, or maybe not...

The scrapbook page I share with you today is about the school changes in our youngest daughter's life. Writing down facts when the memories are still fresh is great, especially for people like me who forgets easily.

Sketch It Up - August

Do you like sketches?  I love them!  Here's one I did the other day:

One of the things I like about them is how easy they are to dress up.  The sketch provides the bare-bones placement of the elements of the layout, but the embellishment is all up to you.    You can keep it simple, or dress it up as much as it suits you.

A quick layout share
