Round Robin

Hello everyone...Katie here! I hope you are all enjoying your summer! This month Monica, Shelby, Rebekah, and myself participated in a round robin. It was so fun to see how each person was inspired by the last person's layout! Monica started us off with this great layout:

 

Next came me...I was inspired by the different sized photos that Monica used as well as the word stickers:

 

My layout went to Shelby and this is what she came up with:

 

Shelby's layout went to Rebekah who was inspired by the strips of paper and the color combo that Shelby used:

 

Isn't fun to see what everyone came up with? This was a lot of fun to do and we are going to do another Round Robin next month..yah!! I hope you all enjoy the rest of your week!

Random Monday musings...

Hello, Elizabeth here with a random Monday post. I know most of you are already on summer vacation, so maybe this post is a little late, but I made a few gifts for the teachers at school and thought I would share.

 
I bought this tea travel mug that had green tea bags inside for my daughters teacher because I knew that she enjoyed tea, but what I didn't know when I bought it was that you could unscrew the bottom of the mug and the insides of the mug were able to come out the top, so that you could put a different paper or picture on the inside. I know there are some mugs that are made to do this but I didn't think this one would, so it was a nice surprise :P.

I bought these pens to include with some fancy post-it notes, and you can unscrew the bottom of these pens and insert your favourite patterned paper inside for a unique look.

I love making these for gifts because you can use any different paper to match the gift you are giving.

And a random project I made last month for a marriage retreat we lead. Little 'welcome cards' using all scraps of patterned paper and little gems...

 

And who doesn't love a little Toblerone when you first get to your hotel room?

That's it folks. I hope you have a great Monday, it is our first day of summer holidays here and I need to figure out how to entertain 5 children and a dog. Wish me luck!

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: KI Memories

Love the KI Memories Paisley Parade line!  The double-sided patterned paper is awesome because you get a fun colorful wild paisley side and a more calm one color patterned side on the flip side.  So you can tone your projects down or pump it up with some fun color mixes!

Photo Tip

Be aware of your surroundings.

I was dropping off my daughter at school, like I do five days a week, and I finally looked across the street for the first time after about 4 months. There was this old run down building that looked *perfect* for a photo shoot.

 

Be sure not to trespass, but most places and people are willing to let you snap some shots.

Happy First Day of Summer

Good morning, all!  I hope this hot & steamy summer weather is not getting to you all.  Here in Middle Tennessee, it is horribly hot.  Our temperatures are about 100 degrees and very humid. 

Enough about the hot weather...how about we talk paper? 

I created this layout
last week with several different patterned papers.  If you look closely, they don't directly match and they are not from the same designers.  I cut several different sizes and made a border across my cardstock.  I added some tickets and a tag.  Last, I stitched around the edge of the page.  I think this adds a nice finishing touch.

Big News! and some new creations...

Look what I got here...

Less than 2 weeks ago we welcomed our newest member to the clan, baby Brock was born at home, weighing 9'15 (photo taken 24 hours after he was born) and perfect as can be. He is such a good baby, which comes in handy with a house of 5 kids! I am even finding some time to scrapbook during his naps!

I made a few layouts recently that incorporate non-scrap related items on the page, more specifically, child-related items. I did a layout of our son's first haircut and included some hair, because everyone wants to go back in their scrapbook and see that first tuff of hair, no? ;)

 
Ha ha, our son had hardly any hair and he still doesn't, but of course he wanted a haircut just like his brothers.

The next layout I made incorporated our son's tooth. I don't usually put teeth in their scrapbooks, but this tooth had a story to tell and the root was so huge on it, that I just had to showcase it in the metal book plate. There was just enough height on the book plate that the tooth fit nicely inside without adding extra bulk.

There are lots of other non-scrap related items you can use on your layouts; souvenirs from trips, school memories, mementos from work, etc.

What's up Wednesday!

Hello Everyone

Hope you've been having a great summer so far!  We've had a busy week around here with store stuff for a change! I hope you have not lost hope and patience with me with the reader challenge ideas contest.  There were so many great ideas, I turned them over to the design team to help narrow it down and for the most part we've to it narrowed down for now.  2 of my girls I'm still waiting to hear from as their lives are a bit crazy at the moment, Elizabeth with her brand new baby boy, and Rebekah who is galvanting around Europe :).   Once as a team we've all submitted our preferences  I'll be able to announce the winners here. You notice I said winners.. since there were so many fantastic ideas and challenges Ill be spotlighting a few of you.  I wish my pocketbook could afford everyone!  So please stay tuned I'll be contacting winners soon.  We will obviously need to push back the actual spotlight posts until July however, as we are running out of June now so that you can look forward to!

That's about all I have in news tonight, I'll be finishing up sale orders in the next couple of days and then moving on to some brand spanking new products from Basic Grey (more basics, oliver and olivia) and American Crafts (rose ribbon by the yard and more thickers).  Next week will bring LYB Boardwalk andTravel (the exact name of the line has left my brain!), Hambly rubons, and more Echo Park.
