It's Wednesday!

Hello Everyone

It's Wednesday (late, but still Wednesday!) and I'm here with our little weekly newsy post.  Hope you all are doing well! The weeks just seem to fly by lately, don't they?  I hope some of you are enjoying some nice spring sunshine.  It snowed all day here today.  Yuck. Yuck. Yuck.!

First off, a winner for last weeks Dear Lizzy Give Away, congrats to Anso :), you win thanks to the random # generator!

Also, thank you to Danielle for the reminder that I apologize way too much.  I loved your comment, and as my thank you for the wake up call I'm sending you a set of Dear Lizzy fabric papers as well!  I resolve to accept what I can do and try my best to quit apologizing for my every weakness and shortcoming.  How embarassing for me!

So first off let's talk October Afternoon since it seems to be what I think most of you are wondering about.  I have to first say that no, I still do not have product, but I should finally by the end of the week.  Many of you may have heard that NOTHING is drama free or easy with this company.  I still maintain in my heart of hearts that they are very,very lucky that you all love their products so much because they could be out of business sometimes by the way they choose to run things.  This of course is just my opinion, they are just so very hard to deal with and I would bet there are a few other retailers that agree with me.    I hope I have not offended anyone by making this statement, but it comes out of shear frustration and venting.  After putting off shipping and pushing it back for over 2 months I finally was thrilled to see a charge on my credit card from them so I called and got a tracking # last week.  This was monday the 22nd.  To make a long story short the box sat at OA for a week, even though I was told twice it would ship that day I called about it. Mind you this entire time there was a tracking #, so I know the box was ready to go.   I think they were determined to make me learn patience and prove they were in control!   Needless to say I was a little angry, but short of flying there and taking care of it myself my hands are tied.  The tracking # does have the box arriving the end of this week, so finally I hope  for October Afternoon success very soon.  Thank you for your patience in waiting, I am learning some as well and thank you for letting me vent a bit.  Yes, they always have adorable product so I will learn to deal with it!   I am just spoiled because for the most part the wholesale companies are all very easy and pleasant to work with.

Secondly, I do have a few items that I haven't been able to list yet.. some Dear Lizzy embellishments (still no big pink flower ribbon sorry), a box of random Maya Road items, some beautiful Girl's Paperie items, some chipboard from Bella and the Monkey line from Creative Imaginations.  I got notice that Doodlebug should be ready soon and of course still patiently waiting on that October Afternoon!   I may not get to listing all of these items this weekend however because I have tax info to gather for my CPA (yes I am the ultimate procrastinator) as well as the Easter holiday.  Paul may be "making" me take a few hours off monday for my birthday.  He is such a sweet hubby.   So be patient with me and know that I do have the items and they will be available for sale very soon.

Love is in the air

Doesn't spring just make everything so alive? Love is no exception. I just wanted to give a shout out to my husband who is recovering from PRK eye surgery (similar to Lasik eye correction, but much more painful of a recovery process). He has been such a trooper, despite the incredible amounts of pain he has to deal with.

I can't remember if I shared this layout here before or not but I came across it in my folder and it just felt right. So without further adieu...

(You will not see layouts with my husband wearing perscription glasses anymore!) I love the look of the lace cardstock used as a frame around my layout. Who doesn't love butterflies in any shape or form?! Have a happy spring day, feel the love, and share it with those around you. Elizabeth

Meet the Designer... Shelby Valadez!

Hello Everyone!

Today I'm back with a special treat!  It's time for another peek at one of the AMLT designers!  This month we are getting to know Shelby a bit better!  Shelby and I go way back, in fact before I even started AMLT!  I used to participate with some Art inspiration challenges she sponsored on another site, so when she applied to be on our team 5 years ago I knew I had to have her working for us!  Shelby has a heart of gold, and I'm so honored to call her my friend!

I asked Shelby the following questions:

What is one scrapbook supply or tool you could never live without?

well, definately cardstock because I just cant start a page without it, but I also LOVE letter stickers and as many times as I have tried to, I cannot do a page without them

What do you do to challenge yourself in your scrapbooking?

sketches. They seem like they would be the easiest way to start a page, but I get so stuck using someone else's idea of how a page should be laid out, but then the pages I do using a sketch always end up being my favorites...go figure!

Who or what inspires you most in your scrapbooking?

wow...I love so many people! Becky Higgins has always been one (back to the sketches again!) and I love Ali Edwards too. My latest favorite is Elizabeth Kartchner

What colors or techinques do you have a hard time using when you are scrapbooking?

hmmm...bright colors always challenge me. For some reason I have it stuck in my head that bright colors and girly pages dont mix. I am trying to change that thinking though

Can you share with us your current favorite layout?

definitely! I did this one the other day and I think making patterned paper flowers may be a new favorite technique of mine (I have done it on 3 pages since this one..lol!)

 

 
 

Besides scrapping do you have other hobbies?

photography is a big one for me! I love capturing pictures of my own family as well as other people's families

Where would you go on your Dream vacation?

I want to go to Europe. There are so many places there that I want to see. Ireland, England, France and sooo many more

What is your guilty pleasure?

well, since I just started dieting (the baby is 8 months old...I cant blame it on her anymore!) I cannot say candy (love candy!) but other than that I would say Starbucks...yuuuum!

Photo-less layouts

Elizabeth here to share some photo-less layouts. I recently made a few layouts for my friend who is having a baby. For her shower, we asked all the attendees to provide a scrapbook page for her baby's album and now all the new mom has to do is add some lovely photos. Here are a few examples...

 

 
  

It is so easy to put together these simple layouts because you get to pick the colours you like and just have fun with product instead of worrying about whether it works with the photo. Maybe you could make a nice mother's day album ... or grandparents brag book ... or teacher appreciation album ...

Wednesday Update.. Newly Listed Product Links

Hello everyone!

Well here I am again.. I'm always seeming to greet you after a long absence.  I think I should fire myself what do you think? :) 

I've had this post in the works since this weekend but never published it as I really hoped to completley catch up.  I'm close, but not quite there, so since I need to post today.. whalla.

Before I list what is already there I'm going to give you some news on what isn't there and will be soon.  I currently have all of the Fancy Pants, Lily Bee and a few more Prima items as well as some boxes of KI that arrived today that need to be listed.  Realistically with the orders I have waiting that need my attention first, and then it being Thursday tomorrow (thursday is my I'm in and out of the house all day day between Weight Watchers, volunteering and school and church meetings). I wouldn't guess I could get them on until Friday or Saturday at the earliest.  Sunday is my littlest son Tate's 8th birthday so with those celebrations there may not be much catch up working this weekend but I will do my best.    The key word there is realistic, I'm finding far too often I  tell all of you what I want to do, but what actually happens is not the same.   So sorry about that I'm still learning to adapt to the changes the year has brought.  

And... drumroll please Pink Paislee and October Afternoon are in transit somewhere between the midwest and Utah, so watch for those next week if all goes well.  I never hold my breath with OA though.

Journaling prompt.

Lots of journaling, journaling that matters and journaling that makes me remember things that have happened. I like that. Since Swedish is "my" language, I prefer to write in Swedish. Sometimes I mix English and Swedish (usually title in English and journaling in Swedish) and sometimes I just write everything in English. 

Today's journaling prompt is Strong (Stark in Swedish) and I have made a layout that I hopefully can look back on to gather strength! I hope that you get inspired enough to write something about your own strengths. Good Luck!

Hi All...Katie here with just a quick layout share. This is my most recent layout and I am really enjoying it! It is a little of my comfort zone which I think is good to do every once in a while. I let myself mix and match a lot of product and just played with all the fun colors and textures. I started with that awesome Prima fabric tree and worked everything else around it. Here's how it came out:

Get inspired!

There are so many things that inspire me. I love colors, shapes, pictures, people, clothes, pretty magazines, food... Is your creative path disturbed in some way? Scrapper's block? This happens to me every now and then. My favorite inspiration at the moment is a scrapbook magazine, or just any magazine at all. This article can be found in this month's Swedish Elle magazine. I can't afford the beautiful shoes and bags featured in the article, but I love the color combination here and decided to use the same one in a layout.

how to: make your own banner greeting card.

Happy Tuesday How-To! 

1.Grab your favorite patterned paper (I used October Afternoon), a pencil and scissors and let's get to work...er, to play!! 

2. Choose a sentiment...get well, congrats, thanks, etc. and freehand the letters onto your paper.  (Make sure your letters aren't too large to fit into the envelope you plan to use for your card.)  I love the homemade look of using your own writing.  Of course, you could also use templates you can print using fonts on your computer.

3. Cut out your hand drawn letters.

4. Go to the sewing machine and using thin scrap paper as your backing, simply machine stitch across your paper, feeding one letter in at a time.  Once you have your banner all sewn together, just pull off the scrap paper and whaaalaa...your banner card!

I had so many small scraps left from cutting out the paper that I couldn't bear to toss!

 

So I grabbed my smallest circle punch and initially planned to make some confetti for the card but then I went to plan B and decided to just design another card using all the fun little circles.  It's fun to see what you can come up with just using your small scraps of paper!
 

We're on Spring Break here in OK!  Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful Spring weather!
