Are you two-page layout challenged like me?

Hi there everyone! Happy Friday to you!

Don't you just love the title of this post? LOL! I couldn't think of a good title for it so I just titled it what I'm really here to talk about today - two-page layouts and how difficult they can be to create sometimes. I'll be honest with you, in my scrapbooks there aren't many of them. I am such a simple scrapbooker that I can usually get all of the photographs, products and journaling that I need all on one 8.5x11 piece of cardstock. Sometimes though, I'm longing for more room and that is when I whip out the second piece of cardstock.

So, if you are two-page layout challenged like me - I've got a really simple tip for you. It's simply - keep it simple. :) I've noticed, looking through my scrapbooks, that the two-pagers that I have created all are very clean lined and simple and they're so much easier to create that way. That's my style in general, but it's good to know that when creating even a two-page layout I can carry on that style onto another page and help it flow smoothly.

Here's a two-page layout that I created recently:

See how the photographs, patterned paper flows across the page? It's really easy to use 4x6 photographs and just line them up and place them across the pages. It's like a story that is unfolding right before your eyes. :) As you can see, I kept it simple, didn't use too many products and just kept that consistency and flow from the first page to the second page. It was really easy to create and I'm sure it's a formula that I'm going to use in the future, too.

So, if you are two-page layout challenged like me, try using this two-pager as inspiration to get you going and maybe you'll come to find out just like I did that creating a two-page layout doesn't have to be difficult - just keep it simple and it's easy to accomplish. :)

Evening Folks.. late evening in fact!

I've got a couple of links, with more to come in the next day or so.  Baseball season is in full swing here, which means the Hicken's are occupied every night between the 2 boys, so I'll do my best to get the product on tomorrow after chaperoning the field trip.  I think once mid June gets here I will find myself bored because school will be out and sports will be over at least for a bit until Football season, LOL

One Minute Monday

Happy Memorial Day everyone! I hope you are all having a fantastic holiday weekend!

Today I wanted to share with you one of my favorite products in the store...KI Sheers by KI Memories.

I just love these fabulous papers! I love the weight and feel and texture of them. They are so easy to work..they are flexible and easy to cut, sew, and adhere. Not to mention all the super fun colors and shapes they come in!

Photo Tip Friday - Use that empty space

Hi everyone! Kristina here and I've got a quick photo tip for you today!
Something that I love to do when it comes to photographs is use the actual photograph as a place for my journaling or title.

Take this photo for instance:

This is a photo of my daughter doing something that she loves - she has just splashed in some water and now she's making "footprints" on the driveway with her shoes. ;)

Some photographs you take will have some "empty" space on it somewhere and it's super easy to add some journaling or a title to it with your photo editing software. 

Here's the photograph after I edited it and added the title:

It took just a minute to add the title to my photograph. If you don't have any photo editing software this little tip can be easily done with rub-ons or stickers, too! If you don't print your photographs at home, you can easily edit your photograph first and just send it off to be printed the way you normally would.

So next time you have a photo that has some "empty" space, utilize it and give your photo and layout a different look! I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and weekend ahead!

Now I'm sure you've all seen this all over the web in the last 24 hours, but I'm going to post a few of my favorite items from the New Basic Grey Releases for those that may not have seen, and for the purpose of gaining some advance feedback from all of you.  Note that there will be a prize you can enter for at the end for helping me :)

I was really excited last week when I got to see a little peek of these lines, they are honestly some of my favorites BG has come up with in a while!  I'm excited about the new products they are adding to their lines as well.  So without further ado here are a few peeks:

  Now here are some of the new items.. they are adding some adorable felt layered stickers similar to Sass's felties, they are calling their's Woolies:

Also new are journaling/transparency sets similar to the ones that Cloud 9 has done,one piece is a journaling card with a matching transparency to go on top.  You can mix and match them for ultimate fun.  The designs are just beautiful, these are called Take Note:

Now as Lovely as I think Lemonade is, I am very partial to the June Bug Line, mostly I think because since I don't have little girls, the pink and flowers are harder for me to use.  First I just love the Dog in this line... Aggie.  It doesn't hurt that I am a former Aggie (go USU!)

{Party Decor~Think Outside That Box!}

Happy Hump Day, All!  Amanda here with some party decor ideas hopefully to help make those guest ooh & aah at that next special event you plan. 

Last year, one of my best friends, Elizabeth, (who doesn't scrap!!!) made this incredible birthday cake for her son's first birthday party.    Is this not the most precious cake?  I was totally amazed that she made it and that it was delicious and I promise I am not just saying that. 

When this assignment came up for making party decor, my complete and total inspiration came from this birthday cake; therefore you are getting to see it.

I went through all of my goodies and there are so many cute zoo & farm animals items out there; these items were leftovers that I already had from K & Company Actopus to Zelephant line.  First I made a party hat out of a shade of yellow cardstock.  I outlined the edge with a black zig pen to add depth.  I thought about doing it with a sewing machine and that may have looked nice, but I thought it may have been a little over-kill?  Then I simply used the dimensional stickers "party animal" how appropriate and the crab. 

Next, I covered a party cup with patterned paper, then added some giraffe ribbon and twine at the top and then the elephant at the bottom.  Don't forget to fill it full of goodies!

The invitation is my favorite.  Here is a closer-up of it.  I typed it on my computer and left enough room at the bottom to put the lion sticker.  I then matted it in a turquoise cardstock.  I matted the entire card on a golden polka patterned paper with an orange patterned strip down the center.  You could use different animals on all of the invitations~how cute?!?  

I just love all of these little items and if you purchase the dimensional stickers or the chipboard like these or these or these would be perfect too!   The ideas are really endless.  And you don't have to make your own cake.  Just hope you have a BF, Elizabeth, like me to make yours!

My challenge to you is at least make your treat cups for your next party.  You will be so happy you did!  They are simple to customize.  Put your guest's names on the outside.  That would be a simple start~enjoy!  Now I am off to talk Elizabeth into scrapbooking!

One MInute Monday

Hey Y'all. Courtney here. Running a few hours late, I'm already on Alaska time, but I just got out of a math class that started at 7am, I can assure the next 5 weeks will NOT be my favorite!

TOday's OMM is the basic cures for scrappers block! These are the things I try when I can't get the creative juices flowing:

• Crank some fun music,  breakin it down behind the closed scrapbook room door! This usually gets my energy level up and gets me in a fun mood.

• Flip through scrap magazines, sketch cool ideas, color combinations...

• Clean a scrap drawer... or two... or the room, it usually needs it anyways and I ALWAYS find goodies that inspire me. Usually some that have gotten lost in all the shifting and haven't even been used yet!

• I Look through older albums, especially with my kids, it always reminds me why I scrapbook in the first place.

• Scrapbook with a purpose, make a thank you card for someone specific, or any variation of this...

What do YOU try?

• And when seriously stuck, always resort to buying something new :)
