Hello!
Today I'm excited to introduce you to another fabulous talented guest designer! This month I have asked Carol-Lea Morgan from Australia to share some of her talent! First I asked Carol-Lea to tell you a little about herself:
Hi, I’m Carol-lea Morgan, from Brisbane , Australia
I’m Mummy to my 10 year old daughter Eden, and my 5 year old son Jamieson.
I have been with my husband Craig since we were 19…coming up on 18 years (yikes!)
Scrapping (and scrap-shopping) has been my addiction for the past 8 years, and this has given me many great opportunities. I was fortunate enough to be picked as one of the inaugural 15 Scrapbooking Memories Masters in 2005, and since then have worked consistently with a bunch of Aussie magazines. Currently I co-ordinate a sketch column in as well as participating monthly in a colour challenge column in the same magazine. I also do regular features for both Scrapbook Creations and Simple Cards Magazine. Over the years I have also been involved in several Australian and US design teams and have taught classes at store and conventions.
I find it difficult to define my style, but mostly I describe it as shabby and linear…an oxymoron, I know. I love to use multiple photos of all different sizes, on both double paged, and single paged layouts. I love using vintage style papers, with touches of lace, ribbon, buttons and flowers. For this reason, the manufacturers I use the most are My Minds Eye, Jenni Bowlin and Making Memories.
When I’m not scrapping; I love to spend my time with my family, catching up with friends over coffee, and shopping (especially for shoes and bags!!) I love losing myself in a great book, while listening to my favourite 80’s tunes; and am also totally addicted to ‘Lost’!
I am thrilled to be given this guest DT opportunity by Jill, as A Million Little Things is always my first stop when I need that something extra for my stash (particularly if it’s by My Minds Eye)!
I asked Carol-Lea to focus her projects on color combos since she has quite a bit of experience with it. Below are her creations and a little about them:
Each month I get to create a new layout for Scrapbook Creations magazine, based on a set colour combination. While this is always fun, it can also be challenging at times. When I first had a chance to play with the Making Memories Paperie range, I realized that it was perfect for creating new colour combos; as each of the four colour schemes blends beautifully together. Here are a bunch of layouts I created based on the colors of the Paperie range.
OUR FAMILY- Blue, green and brown (materials include MM Paperie papers, journaling book, buttons; American Crafts Thickers; Prima flower; lace)
OUR 2 LOVES- Blue, red and white (materials include MM Paperie papers, flowers, buttons, journaling book; My Minds Eye Bella Bella border; lace; MM stickers, Love Notes paper and felt heart)
SO GROWN UP- Pink, brown and white (materials include MM Paperie papers, journaling book, paper clips; MM Love Notes tags; MM flowers and buttons; American Crafts Thickers; Jenni Bowlin felt butterflies; ribbon)
OUR SON- Green and blue (materials include Bazzill embossed dot paper; MM Paperie papers, flowers, buttons and journaling book; American Crafts Thickers)
Now, if this isn't enough inspiration, Carol-Lea went above and beyond with lots of extra inspiration!! Below are some layouts she created to inspire you with those lovey dovey valentines day pictures you may have just taken, and some additional layouts that really showcase that "linear shabby" style!
VALENTINES DAY LAYOUTS
Now that Valentines Day has been and gone, I have a bunch of cute ‘lovey’ photos to scrap. With most manufacturers producing a Valentines themed line, I turned to my favourite companies to create a couple of love inspired layouts.
ADORE (materials include My Minds Eye So Smitten papers and tags; Prima flower; Jenni Bowlin ticket and lace.)
KISS- (materials include Bazzill embossed dot paper; Jenni Bowlin bingo card; MM Love Notes tags, flowers and buttons)
CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE- (materials include MM Love Notes paper; Theresa Collins file folder and tags; Little Yellow Bicycle tag)
SHABBY LINEAR STYLE LAYOUTS
These layouts demonstrate my love of using multiple photos (especially a combination of 4’ x 6’ and wallet size) and layering them with a stack of shabby elements such as soft patterned papers, flowers, lace and ribbon and hand written journaling.
WILD FLOWER- (materials include MM Flower Patch papers, journaling book, brad, butterfly paperclips; MM stickers and lace)
SWEETNESS- (materials include MME Penny Lane papers, transparency frame, title, die cut flower; MM Flower Patch brad; MM Love Notes tag; Prima flower)
Thank you Carol-Lea for all your hard work!! I hope you are all inspired to try out one of these color combos, scrap your Valentine photos, or embrace your own style!
How Fun! I'll pick 89! That paper is just too cute!
